My data loss case is that I had backed up my important files into a big USB for many years. But unluckily one day my PC cannot detect the USB, and all data lost..... So it's important to backup in different places.

My data loss story that caused by virus,mistake format,mistake file deletion,bad software.. an no back up of my files
in some case i solved my problem in booting to windows but in mistake format all file gone then through recovery software restored more than half of them
so i always recommend do backup backup backup.......

My data loss story is...
I have had a notebook which I've used for about years. One day it displayed a death blue screen, and I noticed something wrong. But I was quite busy those days and planned to wait for a while to do backup. 

About 1 month later, one day when I switched on notebook, no HDD was detected. Poor......I've lost nearly all my life for those years. This is my big fault.....


Also, this is the best backup software reliable and user-friendly.

I had a computer with a disk of small capacity. There were times. Photos from my trips filled a large part of the computer's disk. I had to make space on the disk, because there was no space for anything new. These were the old days, and external drives did not exist yet, and certainly not in our (Polish) market. I had images recorded onto a CD-RW. Guess what happened? This CD-RW was not written properly and trying again next data archive, I deleted the entire contents of a CD with photos . Nothing to say, I removed the photos from the disk immediately after burning the disc. Memory card in the camera was even smaller than a CD, so only memories survived.

I have backup habit all along. But I had encountered data loss since I rushed for a project assignment.
However, luckily I had done backup before the project, so just some files lost.
And I could find an earlier version for those files in my emails.
Since then, I also backup with cloud storage.

I have never faced this type of situation till now but i will try to tell about a situation i faced.
When suddenly one fine day my system MBR was corrupted and i used windows repair disc to resolve the issue. It took sometime but the problem was solved perfectly. I have never had any type of problem again till now.

Po aktualizacji sterowników znanym programem system nadawał się do ponownej instalacji,jako że nie używałem programu do kopi zapasowych kosztowało mnie to sporo czasu i utratę danych.

Luckily I still have no dramatic data loss stories. I try to backup my important data regularly on external media like HDD's and optical discs. I'm also using RAID 1 in my current main PC. I kind of do not trust the cloud services and do not keep important data online.

P.S: Well, as I said (un)fortunately I have not any dramatic data loss story until now so I guess I do not qualify for the competition.
