Your important data may be lost in many occasions such as crash or viral attack. O&O DiskImage is the ideal tool for easy quick solution of these problems. It lets you back up an entire computer or single files whenever you want even during running operations. In the event you should lose your personal data it can be quickly restored with just a few mouse clicks even when Windows is no longer able to start. It also supports SSD drives and the latest UEFI System.

O&O DiskImage lets you carry out a system restore and to duplicate or clone an entire PC or hard drive. By restoring such an image, a user has their normal and familiar working environment back again in a short space of time, regardless of whether it is restored onto the original computer or one with different hardware. For instance, where you have changed a motherboard on the target machine or have bought a brand-new PC and want to restore an old backup onto it.

Users who wish to save their data to an external storage medium can take advantage of the integrated plug-and -play functionality which backs up and synchronizes selected files and folders automatically. In addition, the new version has a built-in wizard that accompanies a user step by step through the creation of an automatic data backup. This significantly easier to use backup functionality enables even novice users to create a reliable and fast backup of their data immediately.

O&O DiskImage not only offers an intuitive user interface , but also an extensive scripting interface that allows professional users to perform all functions of the application in batch files or custom applications.
To optimize the memory requirements, the user can specify the maximum number of backups that should be saved so that old ones are automatically replaced by new images. To offer increased data security the program also clearly displays those drives that have not yet been imaged or backed up so that the user can bring their security up-to-date.

Your Image must be stored on an external hard disk or DVD. You MUST NOT store it on the same hard disk where the imaged drive is located

One-click imaging

This built-in feature is the fastest and easiest way to create a complete image of your computer including all data and settings. This is especially useful if you are using O&O DiskImage for the first time.

Imaging

Using the program you can easily create an image of one or more disks, e.g. hard disks, drives, volumes, partitions, Master boot records or combination of the above. You can also image files and folders. If you want, you can exclude certain files from the imaging process
You can save the image to local or external drive to be edited or restored later.
The program allows you to compress the image to save disk space. You can also encrypt the image using the AES algorithm to avoid unauthorized access

Types of Data backup:

Full Backup: all data is backed up to a target drive or disk with each backup.

Differential backup: only the changed or new data since the last full backup will be backed up.

Incremental backup: just backs up new or changed documents, but it bases these changes on the previous incremental backup

Before starting file backup, there's an option for selecting files or file types in the folder that you want to have included or excluded from the backup.

Now let’s ask How often should a Data Backup be made?

The answer to this question depends on how often existing data is changed and new files are created. The relevance and originality of the data and also the personal security needs of the user also have to be taken into account when making this decision.

Bootable media and Restore Function:

Using the program, you can easily restore the whole computer, specific drive or any folders or files
Bootable media can be created using DiskImage 12 start option or tools menu button. The bootable disk contains Windows PE. This will help you in case of system crash or if you cannot start your computer due to any reason. You can restore whole computer, drives or only a partition

Drive and file restore can be easily completed using the quick access suitable options and select the image file to be restored. Under Additional options, enable the setting Adapt to different hardware afterwards (M.I.R) in the restoration or cloning dialog. In that way, you will be able to restore a system partition onto a computer having hardware identical to or different from the source computer.

This will help you if you have many new computers. You don't have to install apps and configure windows many times. All you have to do is to completely configure one system then use DiskImage 12 to have an image of the whole system that can be used for other computers. Very easy, simple and time saving

You can also quickly and easily restore single files from an image. The process is very easy. Simply, mount drives from images as virtual drives and search for the file you want to restore. That's all!

Clone Drives:

This built-in feature lets you clone an entire storage volumes or individual drives which can be used as the original one. This helps you to save all your data without creating image files, and at the same time needs much less space than the image. A clone cannot be compressed or encrypted with no incremental or differential clones possible

Program Options for backup, imaging, cloning and restore:

You need to know that imaging, file backup, cloning and restore process have options for each one. These options differ according to the job you are doing. These can be easily accessed from the toolbar buttons. You can specify the settings and options you need

Now, we need to answer an important question: To backup or clone?

Hard disks and partitions can either be backed up (or “imaged”) or “cloned” (duplicated). So what are the differences and pros and cons for each option?

https://www.oo-software.com/en/disks-and...ifferences

Should the backup need to be created on a regular basis then we recommend the hard drive backup. This takes up less space and allows for the creation of incremental and differential backups afterwards.

If however you need a bootable spare drive in order to be up and running quickly after a crash and to reduce downtime then we recommend a clone or duplicate.

DiskImage 12 lets you make a complete system image both before and immediately after the Windows 10 upgrade:

It  is strongly recommended you make image or copy of your whole system before and after upgrading to Windows 10. Should problems arise during the upgrade process or your other software is incompatible, with a system image you can quickly go back to where you were beforehand. O&O Diskimage 12 will make this easy for you
