At night, Microsoft released another insider assembly of Windows 10 Redstone 5 under the number 17730 on the fast update channel. Recall that the development of a new functional update is gradually coming to an end, so the focus is on correcting errors and improving the stability of the system.

Innovations

Your Phone is now available!

Users of smartphones running Android can now not send themselves photos via email or via instant messengers. Using the application "Your Phone" (Your Phone), you can today get instant access to the latest photos from your smartphone. Launch the application "Your Phone" (Your Phone), download the application Microsoft Apps on Android and follow the instructions in the applications. For best synchronization, Assembly 17723 or later is recommended. The function will work with Android 7.0 or newer version. For PCs tied to the Chinese region, the "Your Phone" function will become available later.

IOS users can also connect the smartphone to the PC using the application "Your phone", however, the synchronization functionality is still limited by the ability to send web pages to the PC.

Faster and safer Internet with HTTP / 2 and CUBIC:

The Internet is part of our daily lives, both at work and at home, in the enterprise and in the cloud. That's why Microsoft strives to make the process of using the Internet even faster and safer. The following functions in Windows 10 and Server 2019 embody these goals in reality:
  • Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 takes advantage of the HTTP / 2 connections that are supported by Windows Server
  • Improved security in Microsoft Edge browsers by providing the preferred version of HTTP / 2 encryption.
  • Improved performance in Windows 10, thanks to the use of CUBIC - a new implementation of TCP with an optimized algorithm for preventing congestion.
Planning a reboot for installing functional updates

Now that the system asks you to restart the PC to install a new build, you will receive the same notifications and usage experience that the company plans to provide to retail customers. Depending on the selected update channel, you can schedule a reboot for the next few days. In addition, the system will ask whether it is possible to schedule a reboot outside the active hours. Your participation in testing the function will smooth out the sharp edges before it becomes available to all users.

Fixes and improvements
  • Fixed an issue that affected WDAG, Remote Desktop and Hyper-V. Remote Desktop Users (mstsc.exe) should no longer see an error message indicating that there is not enough virtual memory during the connection establishment process. Also, users can again use extended sessions in Virtual Machine Connection (vmconnect.exe).
  • The company thanks everyone for feedback on the "Block Suspicious Actions" feature, which was recently added to Windows Security. So far, this feature has been removed from the assembly, because the engineers have to solve some things that insiders have reported.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the volume slider in some applications to respond poorly to touch.
  • Fixed a problem that caused some applications, for example, Twitter, after a while to stop displaying content when navigating.
  • Fixed an issue that caused nothing to be displayed in the "Updates Viewer" in the "Updates View" window in the "Driver Updates" list, even if there were items to display in the list.
Known bugs
  • Links in applications that need to launch another application when clicked may not work for some insiders. The problem is being investigated.
  • The company has made progress in working on a dark theme for Explorer and dialog boxes. In this build, you will see some improvements, but some problems still remain.
  • Pop-up windows on the taskbar (network, sound and others) will not have an acrylic texture on this assembly.
  • When using the "Increase text" function in special features, you can see that in some places the text size will remain the same, and somewhere it will be circumcised.
  • When you configure Microsoft Edge as the kiosk application and select the URL for the home page and the new tab from the assigned access settings, the Microsoft Edge browser may stop running with the configured address. The fix must be included in the following assembly.
  • You can see the icon of the notification counter that is overlapped by the extension icon on the Microsoft Edge toolbar when there are unread notifications for the extension.
  • In Windows 10, in the S-mode, Microsoft Office from the Store may not start due to a DLL error, which is supposedly not designed to work in Windows. To solve the problem, you can try to uninstall and reinstall Office from the Store. If this does not help, then you can try to install Office not from the Store.
  • When using the scan mode, there may be several stops on the same control. For example, if you have an image that is also a link. The company is actively working on the correction.
  • If you use the "Narrator" scanning mode, selecting text in Microsoft Edge using the combination Shift + <selection> will not work correctly.
  • The potential increase in the number of problems with the reliability and performance of the Start menu in this assembly is investigated.
  • After the initial configuration of the Windows Mixed Reality headset in this assembly, you may need to re-pair the controllers before they appear in the headset.
  • When using an application with immersion in another reality in the Windows Mixed Reality headset, the Flashlight on command will not be able to activate the portal function even if the status is "Active" in the Start menu.
Known bugs for developers
  • If you installed assemblies from the Fast channel, and then switched to the Slow channel, then you can not get additional functions, including you can not activate the developer mode. You must stay on the Fast channel to add, install, and enable additional features. This is due to the fact that additional content is installed only on assemblies that are approved for certain update channels.
