How to create a full system backup in Windows 10
#1
Quote:It's an oldie but goodie: Creating a system image of your Windows 10 PC in case your hard drive goes belly up and you need to recover your files, settings and apps.

It's been around since Windows 7 ($22.95 at Amazon.com), and Microsoft hasn't touched it since. You won't find it in the Settings app where you likely first turn when you need to perform a bit of system maintenance on your PC. Instead, it's hiding out in the the old Windows Control Panel. What it is is the ability to create a full system backup, which you can use to restore your PC should it fail, become corrupted or otherwise stop operating smoothly.

Because the tool to create a system image is somewhat buried in Windows 10 ($149.00 at Amazon.com), let's shine a light on where it's located and how to use it.

this is true for all windows verisons
7,8 and 10 except the latest version windows 10 1709.
simply the recovery does not work.
if he makes the copy , but does not recover it.
Microsoft recommends using third-party backup.
I have checked it, it does not work.
it seems that in this latest version
they have done something to make it obsolete
and they do not think about fixing it.
so you know, if you have backup with win 10 1709
you will not be able to recover.
there are many complaints on the internet about this subject.

very bad gentlemen of microsoft
any operating system, linux, appel offer disk copy solutions
and Microsoft, always with new versions, deletes the disk image
and proposes to resort to third parties.

Yes, I noticed the same behaviour. Maybe they will rid of it in the next Windows 10 versions?

at least there should be a warning
that the copy will not be recovered.

I think, have read in some article that MS is going to remove the backup stuffs.

Use Macrium Home...simply the best, reliable and fastest backup/imaging software available.

I have tried/tested the popular backup/imaging software and none come close to Macrium, Macrium beat all in every department, reliability, speed, innovation, etc.

I have not tried Acronis yet as I find it bloated and so not interested in it.

Imaging/Backup - Macrium, safe and reliable

Snapshot technology - Rollback Rx - fastest technology to backup/restore but risky program...you need to take care of few things and still may face occasional minor/major issues.

I always do "reset" function and delete all the stuff if I want a full restoration. Currently I looking for a bare-metal backup because if the reset components gets corrupted, I cannot use the reset function.

I looking for fast and reliable image backup. Any suggestions?  Big Grin
