Giveaway SoftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery Giveaway
#1
oftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery is a tool built for file recovery from external storage devices. These include external hard drives, music sticks, PC cards, flash drives, and memory cards of specific formats. At the time of writing, the supported memory card formats are SD, SDHC, Compact flash, SDXC, Sony Memory Stick, MMC and XD.
The function of the software is to “undelete” files and recover any lost data from any of the aforementioned storage devices. SoftOrbits is able to recover files from devices that have been formatted or damaged/corrupted in the course of use. Storage devices that can be attached to a PC as removable storage (such as digital cameras and audio players) can also be used with this program to recover files.

Usage and Functionality
SoftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery is able to recover documents, music files, pictures and other types of files that can be stored to flash-based devices. The interface of the program is built for ease of use, as there is an option to preview files before recovery. This means, for example, that you can see the picture that you want to recover before you actually recover it. This way, you can be sure that you are recovering the correct file and then go ahead to save it on your disk.

It is worthy of note that you can only scan and preview files in the free evaluation version of the software. If you want to save the files to disk, you have to purchase the full version. The recovery process itself is fully automated and very easy to use. After installation of the software, a few clicks in a few places is all you have to do.
First, connect your USB to the computer and run the program. The program will detect your drive automatically and display it on its interface. Next, you select the device name and then click scan. The program then begins to scan for all the lost data on the drive, so you have to wait for some time for the program to complete the process. During our testing, we noticed that the amount of time required to scan a drive is related to the size of the drive. So the scanning time would be significantly higher on a large drive. There is no quick scan option and scans of even small drives, such as 4GB flash drives took around 10 minutes to complete.
When the program completes the scanning process, it will display a comprehensive list of all the files and folders that are eligible for recovery. Select the files that you wish to recover and then click “Recover” to start the process.

You can use Soft Orbits Flash Recovery Tool to retrieve files deleted from the recycle bin or files lost as a result of malware attacks on your drive.  If you have formatted your drive, you can still use the program to recover files from it.
Corrupted File Recovery
An interesting selling point of this program is its ability to recover corrupted files. To do this, you need to connect your device to PC, then launch the program and go into the pre-recovery preview to select the files that you wish to repair. This preview displays different versions of all the files on the drive, including the corrupted versions of each file (if applicable).
Next, you have to select the least corrupted versions of the files that you want to repair. The preview makes it easy to figure this out as you can see what you are recovering before you begin the process. Select the disk that you want to save the recovered file to, and click “recover”. The automated process will do the rest for you.

Compatibility
The software supports a number of Windows-based operating systems, including Windows 2000, 2003 Server, 2008 Server, Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10. We are yet to see any development for users running other operating systems such as Mac and Linux. This may be an area where the manufacturers should be looking to improve.

Final Thoughts
If you are familiar with the pain of losing files on portable storages due to reasons beyond your control, then SoftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery is going to be a lifesaver, as the program supports recovering files from all removable storage devices that windows mounts with a drive letter.
The only con would be that the program is too simple for our taste, and we felt that a quick scan option should have been included as large drives can take a considerable time to scan.
