Farage: Pretty censorship! The need for a Bill of Rights for social media users!
#1
Nigel Farage called for the creation of a Bill of Rights for social media users after the largest of these media persecute people with conservative views.
The former UKIP leader at the New Culture Forum in London on Thursday evening told the public that such important events as Donald Trump's election as US president, Brexit in the UK and the creation of the current Italian government 'could not happen without using social media.'

However, after the presidential election in the US in November 2016, the owners of social media that facilitated the 'global revolt' became a 'threat' to the 'democratic process', through practices such as shadowbanning and censorship of conservatives.

- The reactions of the owners of these social networks pose a threat, in my opinion, to freedom of speech - and even the entire democratic process. We must stop their prejudices, 'said Farage. - This is from November 8, 2016, when Trump won, the owners of these social networking sites began to change their thinking and even their practices.

He cited an example of Google, which he called the 'gateway' to information, considering that this search engine accounts for over 80% of searches on the Internet.

- The day after Trump was chosen, the largest online search engine, the most powerful major technology company in the world ... effectively declared war on the whole 'populist' revolt that takes place throughout the West - said the MEP.

Discussing the monopoly of technology companies managed by the liberal elite in the Silicon Valley, Farage stated:

'We have fewer than a handful of companies that now control the entire future of our democratic debate in the entire western world, and I think that now has very worrying implications. I think the issues are so fundamental and so important that we can not allow the whole future of political discourse to be in the hands of two or three people who, according to their own testimony, have turned out not to be politically neutral.

- I believe that Donald Trump and [campaign manager - note. ed.] Brad Parscale in the presidential election campaign in 2020 will promise a Charter of Rights for social media users, doing all they can to resolve this imbalance - he said, adding that a similar law can be adopted in Great Britain and Europe .

- This is how future generations will gain information and shape their opinions. We must do everything in our power to ensure that this is done in a fair and impartial way. This is based on the whole future of trust, faith and trust in our democratic processes - added Farage.

He also addressed the issue of technology companies that punish those who try to use the Internet to 'promote violence, terrorism and extremism.' He warned that such powers, if they could not be controlled, could be used to 'close the debate on sound democratic conservative values'.
