My Forum Activities

Dear all,
It will be a wrong decision to close the forum IMO as you'll lose the work of 5 continuous years and that's a lot of good hard work lost in vain.
Maybe we can help by splitting the costs among the ones that are interested to sustain the forum.
How much does the hosting cost per year?
Have you thought to leave the forum to a group of interested people in continuing the activity here?

Let's be rational and think on having something rather than not having it.

I have in mind some kind of sharing quota participation so that each member that support the forum could have a share or a quota of rights in this forum. This is 1 option.

Another way to sustain the hosting costs is to enable ads so that they pay your costs.

In my opinion, all possibilities are better than the closing.

Thanks,
Thumb

I have nothing to say.Just pray to Almighty(God) that this situation will be resolved soon and our forum will run better than ever. Its a shame that our forum has lots of talkative guys, lots of giveaway participants but they don't want to participate any forum activities accept Giveaway contest! Few days ago Tarek were looking for software reviewer and active poster for software update sections, but no one is interested!!

I pray to Almighty(God) that Mike will be able to solve all his problems and this forum will not stop.

We are all going through a very difficult time.

That's really sad news. I believe however just like dinosaur07 suggested that it's possible to organize some kind of crowd-funding (not sure how exactly it's called). How much does the domain and the hosting cost? For my webpage I'm using services offered on https://stacksocial.com. For example there's currently the so-called lifetime hosting plan offered from BoxHosting for only $45:
https://stacksocial.com/sales/box-hostin...bscription
While these services are not reliable and most likely they'll disappear in a few years (or even months) I find them quite useable for the price they ask. Well, there will be additional yearly costs for the domain of course. Another problem would be the migration to a new cheap and unreliable hosting, that will require some time and efforts. So I believe that's something to consider. I am personally ready to share some small amount of money and support the forum.

You can donate to Mike, you have on the right that donate button, i did it some time ago and with a decent sum of $20 i think it might help covering the costs. Mike has to tell how much does the hosting cost and what are all the annual costs in total.

I have had the donation button on the forum and blog for several years and it does no good. You were one of the very few that ever donated Dino and I thank you for that. I have also tried affiliate sales with some software products with no luck. The only thing most of the members care about is free licenses which I suspect many of these are also collected and sold on other websites. The billing is just over $100.00 a year but why should I take on this expense and have Tarek spend all his time doing reviews for everyone else to benefit and get rewarded. We have a great forum team and are always asking for help but theres only a few people that do. Those few can not do it all. We have asked members for help to be more active to increase our Alexa rank and page views which also has been going down. As for advertising I don't think it's possible to do on a forum.

Mike

I think we can make it for $100 Mike. If 10 members donate $10 we will do it.
You can also enable ads in the forum, there are almost 10k members, you will earn some cash out of ads.
Let`s make a rule and don`t allow to participate in giveaways members that are not active in forum other than in giveaways and that don`t contribute to the forum in any way. It is so simple to do it but let`s face that promo2day is and was mainly a giveaway forum, this was/is its meaning, it states in the title also, promo today.  Smile

Yes we can explore the possibility of setting up advertisement for revenue. I can help set up an adsense on forum mike if you wish.
