I am using WinZip currently. I have used trial version of PowerArchiver and I want to use it as my main archiver now. Some of the reasons I want to win this giveaway are following:
- First thing I like about PowerArchiver is its support for long list of formats. I don't have to think whether or not I need to download some other software to open an archive. WinZip does support reading from many formats but writing is limited.
- Second thing, is the performance. I have actually compared it with WinZip and I found PowerArchiver much faster.
- It generates smaller archives. The difference may not be huge but every bit counts.
- Another big feature is the UI itself. Most of the archiving utility don't focus a lot on the UI. But PowerArchiver has done the best job so far in this category. The UI is completely customizable, down to the level where you can show/hide icons in context menu. Ashampoo Zip is trying to copy their UI, but it doesn't look that good.
- Encryption is another feature I need to use a lot for my work and PowerArchiver gives me that option too.
- I use MS office heavily and PowerArchiver integrate nicely with it.
- I sometimes need to use FTP. Currently I use FileZilla. But if I have PowerArchiver, I don't need a separately utility.
