User interface:



The user interface is very friendly, well arranged and easy to use. We will explain in details the user interface and the menu drop down to help you start using the program with no problems.

In the upper part of the application, you will see a menu bar with 6 tabs (task, file, download, view, help and registration). Below the menu bar, you will find the download toolbar which includes all the features you need to use and manage your downloads. The default features available include; Add URL, Resume, Stop, Stop All, Delete, Delete All Completed files from the list, Options, Scheduler, Start Queue, Stop Queue, site grabber and Tell a Friend. Of course, this is the main function of IDM and you need to know detailed information about it. The program has many built in modes for starting and managing your downloads in an easy and quick way.
These built-in download modes include; automatic and manual download, batch download, download from web page or multimedia site, drag and drop, import download, clipboard download, command line download and site grabber. You will have any type of download in one application!

If your download is broken for any cause as internet connection troubles you can easily resume it. In addition, when your download is complete, there will be a “download complete dialogue”. This lets you open the file or its location or choose the program to open with. For example WinRAR id ZIP file



You can use the program at any time while surfing the internet. It is compatible with all known browsers with fully integration using plugins. This feature lets you save your download list. For example, if you are moving to a new computer or laptop, you can use this tool to restore all your download. The process is very easy. Simply, use import or export located under the task menu. You can export all your downloaded files in your list. It will be saved on your computer with the extension .ief or ef2. Import function allows you to restore and download these files later. The program will automatically detect the exported files saved by the user and restore it. You can also import and export any downloads in the form of a text file.





Video grabber:

You can download any online multimedia with no need for multimedia download software. You will pay once and enjoy any video file you want to save. IDM do the job for you in an easy and quick way using the video grabber tool. You can see the download panel of IDM above any video you play online. Simply click the panel to see a list of the formats available for download. Select the one you prefer and download as usual. Now you can enjoy offline playback



You select custom location for your file (for example desktop) or use the automatic categorization feature of the app which uses the file type to select its location (for example video, audio, zip and so on)

File Search:

If you need to find a specific file, you will need a lot of time searching hundreds of files downloaded. IDM supports search function. This is located under download menu in the form of find and find next. This will save your time and lets you easily find any downloaded file.



Notification area icon:

This is an icon for the program located in the notification area. If you right click it, it will show you many options as purchase, help, speed limiter and many other

Right context menu for any file in the download list offers you many additional options as open, open with, redownload, resume, remove and many other



Site Grabber:

IDM allows you to download complete websites for offline browsing, for example, pictures or audio files . This is done through the predefined set of templates which make it easy to set the required project.
The site grabber can be launched from the download toolbar then you need to follow simple four step wizard that determines the website to be downloaded, the files to be downloaded, name of your new project and location to save it. After creating a project, the grabber starts to explore files and do everything for you.

First step:

Specify the name of the new project, the website to be grabbed and project template. If the website needs authorization, it will be provided here. Advanced options are also available





Second step:

This step lets you decide whether to automatically save the project files into default category or to select a different location. Other options include overwrite existing files, convert links for offline browsing



Third step:

This step lets you add explorer filters such as whole website exploration or specified number of link levels only, ignore popups windows, explore all sites in the domain



Fourth step:

This step lets you set filters regarding the file types you want to include or exclude. Also it helps you to hide duplicates when found during download process.









Finally, the website will be explored using the set filters till complete. The progress of site grabber can be easily followed with available statistics. The process may need long time according to the website and filters. You will have a list of the files found. You can sort or rearrange files by type, size, name to easily check them. Now, select the files you will save and start download.



Scheduler:





This feature is very important as it will automate all your downloads. No more need to lose time or do effort for downloading all your files. The scheduler will automatically do everything for you.

Two types of scheduler are built-in, namely the main and synchronization. The synchronization queue differs from the main download one in that it lets IDM to check for any changes available on the server so that the old files will be replaced with new ones. You can easily create a new queue using the new button on the scheduler dialogue or more easily right click menu of the queue options in the category tree. You will find many additional options such as start, stop, edit, delete or create new queue. 





The use of this tool is very easy. First, you need to add files to the queue (schedule) using download later on the file download dialogue. Alternatively, you can use of right context menu in the file download list in the main program area or drag and drop any download links by from the main list to the queue you want. Next step, launch the tool using the toolbar button or the download menu option.

Note that the files added to the queue will appear in your main download list with information available as the column "Q". This is the queue and if a file is added to a queue , this mark will be different accordingly

Now, you will specify the location to save your files, time to start and end of your download. Other options are available for you such as set download limits, general or synchronized download and number of concurrent downloads. You can even select to shut down the computer after complete download. Finally click start now or at a scheduled time



Program settings

The program has many settings with many options available for users to set and change. This makes the program one of the most customizable. Settings are categorized under many tabs in a well arranged design. These include; general, file types, save to, downloads, connection, proxy, site logins, VPN and sounds. You can access the settings under download menu.

General:



This part includes many options such as program start with windows, supported browsers, advanced integration, clipboard download, customize keys, download panels and context menu
If your browser is not listed, no problem you can add it easily. All you have to do is to open the settings general tab, and use add browser exe file. That's all!











File types:



You can easily specify the file types that can be automatically downloaded. You will find many types built-in the app, if you want other types, just add any type and save. At anny time you can restore the default using default button
 You can also specify the websites to avoid automatic start of the download process. Again, you can add or remove any new sites and addresses to the list and use the default button to restore the original state

Save to:



Users can specify file categories and save locations through the options available here. You can add a new category if you wish. In addition, you can specify the default directory to save downloaded files and temporary directory to save file parts during download process.

Download:



This part includes settings for start and complete of download dialogue. You can customize the download progress dialogue according to your wish. You will also find options to show queue panel on click of download later button or when you close batch downloads
Virus checking tool is available here. You can set this option to have all your files automatically scanned for any threats. This will keep you safe.  The user can easily customize the behavior of the program if there are duplicate files downloaded. Command line parameters can also be found in this tab



Connection:



You can use this option to specify your connection type and speed. The maximum connection number is 32. If you select this high speed, you will receive a warning that this cause slow connection and use the bandwidth. You can add exceptions for a specific server and set download limits



Proxy:



Using this option, you can easily set the configuration settings of your internet connection including proxy, socks or FTP settings

Sites Login:



This option lets users the login information for any host file site. This will let you enjoy the full download speed. The program will automatically save your data for future use. You will not need to retype login data each time you download from the host site. Many host files need subscription to enjoy using the premium services and download at the maximum speed

VPN:



Using this option, you can simply configure your dial up and VPN settings so that IDM will be working with no problems.

Sound:



You can add sound when the download is completed or failed, queue processing started or stopped. the only supported music files type are of the “Wav” extension.
