Avast’s Security Ambassador, Garry Kasparov, will be speaking at DEF CON 25 in Las Vegas on July 28th, 2017.

Garry Kasparov, Avast security ambassador and former world chess champion, is set to discuss why humanity shouldn’t fear the rise of intelligent machines, but should embrace it at DEF CON in Las Vegas on July 28th, 2017 from 10:00 - 10:35. After his keynote, Garry will host a booklet signing session in the vendor area at DEF CON at 11:30.

In his talk, Garry will highlight how increasingly intelligent machines can complement and change how we act and think, as well as the unchanging need for human ingenuity in fields like digital security. Instead of cutting humans out of the picture, Garry thinks humans and machines will get the best from each other through better interfaces and processes.

Garry has been fascinated with interactions between humans and machines ever since his historic chess matches against the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue in 1996 and 1997. He sees the collaboration between humans and intelligent machines at work in Avast’s powerful threat detection network, and security as an increasingly critical intersection of human rights and technology.

WinRAR - What's new in the latest version 

Version 5.50 beta 6

  1. File association option for JAR files is off by default
      in WinRAR installer unless you enabled it earlier in previous
      WinRAR versions. You need to enable this option manually
      if you wish to associate WinRAR with *.jar.

  2. Unless "Allow absolute paths in symbolic links" extraction dialog
      option or -ola command line switch are specified, WinRAR does not
      allow to extract symbolic links with ".." in target if any of
      link path components is an existing symbolic link itself.
      It is done to prevent bypassing WinRAR security checks with
      chains from several symbolic links.
  
  3. Bugs fixed:

      a) if "Add" command was used from inside of archive opened
        in WinRAR interface, "file not found" error could be issued
        for files which pathnames included spaces;
      
      b) fixed crashes when unpacking corrupt RAR archives;

      c) "rar a arc. filename" command created "arc." archive
        with trailing dot instead of expected "arc" without any extension;

      d) "New folder" button in extraction dialog selected a parent of
        newly created folder instead of such folder itself;

      e) "Checksum error" could be mistakenly reported for some valid
        GZIP archives.

This service upgrade fixes several bugs and introduces some new features:

Media Importer
We increased the speed and improved the stability of the importer process. We also removed OMDB from the list of online sources to choose from, as it is no longer free to use. A visual indicator has been added to each skin and theme to inform the user that an importer process is ongoing.
TV
We added the possibility to manually schedule recordings: schedules can now be defined for any channel by simply setting start and end times/dates. 
The recording indicator that is displayed on each menu screen while the system is recording a show is now visible in all skins and themes. 
A new setup option now allows users to change the logo style of TV/Radio channels. Besides a new channel group button to swich groups, we also added configuration options to define if name, logo and number of each TV channel should be displayed in the EPG
Video playback
A visual indicator will be shown when the playback is paused.
Fast forward/rewind now displays the speed of playback.
Weather
We replaced the weather provider WorldWeatherOnline by OpenWeatherMap. The Weather screen now displays a full seven days of weather forecast instead five.
Settings menu 
The settings menu section has been overworked and now displays its entries in a more logical order and structure.   Extensions

MediaPortal 2.1.1's functionality can be further extended through the installation of additional plugins. The choice of extensions, while currently limited, is steadily growing.
