B.C. premier calls Cache Creek flood damage 'unbelievable'
Fire Chief Clayton Cassidy has gone missing after checking water flows in Cache Creek.
RCMP say Cassidy, 59, was last seen east of the village early Friday morning checking water levels in the creek near the Brookside Campground.
Police also say his vehicle was found at the location where he was last seen.
Cassidy, known for his dogged community involvement, won a B.C. award for his leadership and bravery during a past flood.
In 2016, Premier Christy Clark lauded Cassidy for his tireless community service and grit during the 2015 Cache Creek floods, noting, "some people rise to the occasion and others go above and beyond."
Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver issued a statement Friday afternoon.
"My thoughts are with all those affected by flooding. My heart goes out to missing Fire Chief Clayton Cassidy and his family. I hope that he is found safe," Weaver said in a news release.
The search for Cassidy continues.

NASHVILLE -- A publicist for country music legend Loretta Lynn says she has been hospitalized after having a stroke.
Maria Malta confirmed Friday that the 85-year-old singer and songwriter was admitted into a Nashville hospital on Thursday night after suffering the stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Lynn's website says she is responsive and expected to make a full recovery.
It says Lynn has been advised by doctors to stay off the road while she recuperates, and upcoming scheduled shows will be postponed.
Born a Kentucky coal miner's daughter, Lynn had a string of hits starting in the 1960s with the biographical "Coal Miner's Daughter," "You Ain't Woman Enough," "The Pill," and "One's on the Way." Her songs reflect pride in her humble background and speak frankly of her experiences.
Her 1977 autobiography was made into a popular movie that brought an Oscar for Sissy Spacek's portrayal of the singer. More recently, she won two Grammy Awards in 2005 for her album "Van Lear Rose."
She continues to tour and record regularly, but had to postpone shows last year after suffering injuries in a fall that required surgery. She is set to release a new album this August.

O&O FileDirect makes it possible to share an unlimited number of files without having to load them in the cloud. This way your confidential files are never out of your hands. You maintain complete control over who gets to see them.
Using a simple interface, you indicate the file that should be shared. O&O FileDirect then generates an individual link that you send to the contact. The recipient doesn’t need to install O&O FileDirect in order to download the file. The only thing needed is a current browser running on an ordinary device.
Due to the way an internet connection is established it is not always possible to directly connect two participants with each other, due for instance to NAT Gateways and Firewalls. The use of the O&O Software server enables a browser and O&O FileDirect to establish such a connection. Only so-called metadata is passed through this server, such as the file name, file size and data required to build a connection. Furthermore, this data is not saved on the server at any time, but is resent by O&O FileDirect when a browser requests it.
As soon as the connection is made, the browser and O&O FileDirect communicate with each other directly and the authorized data can then be exchanged.

No, the data will be saved on the computer where sharing was enabled. Every download will be carried out on this computer using a point to point connection.
Must my computer be running in order for someone else to download the file?
Yes because the download will be run directly from this computer. This also has, however, an advantage in that no one will be able to download the file whenever the computer is shut down or separated from the Internet.
How large is the maximum size of the files?
O&O FileDirect has no limitation regarding size. Limitations are based only on the amount of available space.
Do I need to install something in order to download?
No, download can be done directly in the browser without any additional plug-ins or software.
Which browsers are supported?
Download is currently supported by all the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera. Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are not currently supported.
