Your Lifetime License will be Lifetime. 

Like In Windows 7,

You can upgrade to Windows 8 at the upgrade price at the launch time. 

But cannot get it free.

Like in Windows 8 , 

You can upgrade to Windows 10 free at the launch year but after completing of offer, you cannot upgrade free.

But if you  don't  upgrade to Windows 10 , you can continue to use Windows 8 for lifetime.

So, if you don't buy newer or upgrades of future of IDM.

then you can use your old version license for life.
