The oldest living woman in the world has died aged 117 years and 137 days - months after revealing her secret to longer life was eating three eggs a day. 

Emma Morano - who survived two World Wars - ate one cooked and two raw eggs every day since the age of 20 after a doctor diagnosed her with anemia,

She also credited eating small amounts of minced meat and only having milk for supper for helping her live longer.

Emma also used to eat 500 grams of Gianduiotti every week (chocolates made with the hazelnuts) and glasses full of honey - and was also the oldest Italian person EVER.

Italian media outlet Rai News reported her death today - noting she had outlived three King of Italy, a dozen presidents of the Italian Republic and 11 popes

MirrorOnline reported last November how Emma was in a generally cheery mood, saying: "I’m doing really fine, but my legs are weak."

Emma was born in Civiasco, province of Vercelli, in 1899 as the first of eight children.

As a teenager, she enjoyed dancing, loved waltz and tango and adored music - but she suffered hard times throughout her life.

During the First World War her fiancé was called to the front line - and the young lovers never met again.

Emma believed he had been killed, but according to a journalist for local paper L’Alpino he returned home to find she had moved.

She married in October 1926 and 11 years later had her only child, who died at the age of six months.

After an unhappy marriage she split from her husband the next year.

Mrs Morano, who remained single for the rest of her life, worked in a factory making jute sacks then as a cook before retiring at the age of 75.

She took the title of oldest person after the death of previous record holder Susannah Mushatt Jones in May last year.

After hearing that she was the world's oldest human, the Italian reportedly said: "My word, I’m as old as the hills."

Rosi Santoni, who helps care for Mrs Moran, told the newspaper the supercentenarian back in November she was almost entirely deaf and her social life is very limited as all her peers are now dead.

She said: "Considering her age she is in pretty good health.

“She does find walking very tiring, though, and she has a nap during the day.”

Mrs Morano was born on November 29, 1899, in Civiasco in the Piedmont region of northern Italy and the eldest of eight children.

Her family moved to Pallanza close on Lake Maggiore, close to the Swiss border, where she still lives in a small flat.

She took up the record last year after the last American born in the 1800s - just months before Mrs Morano - Susannah Mushatt Jones passed away at the age of 116.

Ms Jones became Guinness World Records' official oldest person when 117-year-old Misao Okawa died in Tokyo last year.

The oldest verified person was Jeanne Calment of France, who died in 1997 at 122 years and 164 days, the research group said.

Clifton James, a veteran actor who appeared as Sheriff J.W. Pepper in two James Bond films, died Saturday morning at age 96.

James died just blocks away from his childhood home, surrounded by friends and family, loved ones told Variety in a statement.

Clifton was born in 1920, the eldest child of Grace and Harry James, and grew up just outside Portland, Oregon during the heart of the Great Depression.

According to relatives, he fought for five years on the front lines of the South Pacific, earning two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star for his service during World War II.

His acting career spanned nearly six decades, and included theater, film, and television. First appearing on stage in “The Time of Your Life,” he would go on to perform in several Broadway shows, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “All The Way Home.”

James most famous role came on film. He appeared in two James Bond films opposite Roger Moore: “Live and Let Die” (1973) and “The Man with the Golden Gun” (1974). He portrayed the crowing Louisiana sheriff, J.W. Pepper (pictured). James would play similar Southern lawman in numerous other roles during his career, including “Silver Streak” and “Superman II”

Among his other film credits included “Cool Hand Luke,” “Eight Men Out” and “The Bonfire of the Vanities.”

James enjoyed celebrating holidays with his wife Laurie. He is survived by his sisters, Cicely and Beverley; his five children, Cory, Winkie, Hardy, Lynn, and Mary; fourteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

What to do in the event of a data loss

First and most important, don’t panic. It is strongly recommended to immediately close all applications and avoid saving any more data. Every time data is written on any storage volume, especially temporary files from internet browsing, the chances increase that the data targeted for recovery will be permanently destroyed. Only files that have not been overwritten are capable of being accurately restored.

Second, take a minute to think and remember how was the data deleted? Is it still in the Recycle Bin and can be easily restored from there.

Finally, if your important photos, videos or songs were thoroughly deleted and you have no backup available with you then you will need to use a data recovery program such as O&O MediaRecovery. Select the drive where you want to search for the deleted data: You can either select a partition (e.g.C: or D), many storage volumes (for example USB, digital camera and so on) or even the entire hard disk.



Start search: this step can take many hours depending on the disk size



Run scan: you can see detailed information on the progress of the search for deleted files (diskrecovery), for example current process, time remaining and so on



Select files to be restored; after the scanning is finished you will see a list of the files that can be recovered. On the left side, you will find folders divided into two groups unerase and diskrecovery, each one includes many folders. You can select any folder to view its contents on the left side.



You can preview any file, revise its properties (for example size) and filter the data you want to restore





Select target folder for the data rescue; better to be new or empty folder. By default it is set to my documents



Save files; the recovery dialogue will show the progress of recovery and time remaining to complete



Completing data rescue; this is the last step and show you summary of the data recovery. Click finish to close the program



If you want to interrupt the process at any time and continue later; Save and continue data rescue

Robert W Taylor, who was instrumental in creating the internet and the modern personal computer, has died at the age of 85.

Mr Taylor, who had Parkinson's disease, died on Thursday at his home in the San Francisco Peninsula community of Woodside, his son Kurt Taylor told US media.

While working for the Pentagon's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) in 1966, Mr Taylor shepherded the creation of single computer network APRANET — which evolved into the internet — after becoming frustrated he had to use three separate terminals to communicate with researchers around the country.

As he had predicted, the limited communications tool morphed into a system that supplies people with fingertip access to everything from encyclopedias to investment advice.

In 1961, Mr Taylor was a project manager for NASA when he directed funding to Douglas Engelbart at the Stanford Research Institute, who helped develop the modern computer mouse.

Taylor oversaw pioneering PC's creation

He also oversaw a team that helped create the Alto — a pioneering personal computer — while working at the Xerox Corp's Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC).

The Alto supplied each researcher with an individual workstation instead of sharing time on a room-sized mainframe. It was designed to use a graphical user interface (GUI), which enabled the user to command the device through icons, windows and menus instead of typing text commands in computer language.

The technology inspired the Apple Macintosh computer, with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs declaring a GUI "inevitable" after some of his engineers convinced him to visit PARC at the end of 1979.

Mr Taylor's engineering team also helped develop ethernet local networking and a word processing program that became Microsoft Word.

Stanford University Silicon Valley Archives project historian Leslie Berlin told the New York Times:

"Any way you look at it, from kick-starting the internet to launching the personal computer revolution, Bob Taylor was a key architect of our modern world."
In 1999, Mr Taylor was awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.

In 2004, he and other PARC researchers were awarded the Draper Prize from the National Academy of Engineering for development of "the first practical networked personal computers".

In the 1990s, Mr Taylor ran the Systems Research Centre in Palo Alto for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC).

The lab helped create AltaVista, one of the first internet search engines.

Mr Taylor retired in 1996.
